Yesterday my graduate application to Boston University was delivered, with one whole day to spare. The chances of my getting accepted are slim-- my GRE scores were low, and my letters of recommendation were not from any professors. I am hoping that my writing samples and GPA will pull me through.
Of course, after getting accepted, there's the matter of uprooting my whole life and finding a place to live in Boston. My husband is willing to go, but I don't know if he's all that excited about lowering our standard of living and taking a step backwards for the next two years... We will barely be able to afford a studio apartment, and that's if we find jobs that meet our current salaries. Right now we live comfortably in a huge two bedroom with two new cars and extra money for luxuries..
But then again, I am miserable in my cubicle job with my three-hour-a-day commute through the smoggy freeways of LA. If I want to have a successful career doing something that interests me, this will be my chance.
